The Institute for Research in Corporate Sales and Revenue Growth Strategies (RGRI) supports the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information and endorses the principle that research information should be as open, transparent, and reusable as possible.
We believe that information about research — including metadata relating to publications, organizations, authors, affiliations, funding, and other scholarly outputs — should not be treated as a closed proprietary asset where openness, verifiability, and public accountability are both possible and appropriate. More open research information strengthens the conditions for responsible research assessment, clearer scholarly communication, and more transparent institutional practice.
RGRI regards open research information as an important part of a healthier research ecosystem. In our view, institutions that produce, curate, evaluate, or communicate knowledge should, wherever reasonably possible, rely on research information practices that are transparent, reviewable, and less dependent on opaque or exclusively proprietary systems.
At its current stage of development, RGRI understands this commitment primarily as a commitment to principle and direction. In particular, the Institute supports:
- the use of open and transparent research metadata where feasible;
- clearer and more responsible institutional presentation of research outputs and affiliations;
- research information practices that improve traceability, interpretability, and public intelligibility;
- the gradual strengthening of open scholarly infrastructure within the Institute’s publication and communication practices.
This commitment is consistent with RGRI’s broader orientation toward methodological rigor, institutional clarity, responsible research assessment, and intellectually honest standards for the evaluation and communication of knowledge.
RGRI recognizes that the practical implementation of these principles is gradual. The Institute nevertheless considers openness in research information to be a legitimate institutional objective and an important part of building a more credible, transparent, and durable research culture.
